I am a small-scale farmer in my third year at Viva Farms. After completing Viva’s Practicum in Sustainable Agriculture in 2022, I launched my farm business in 2023. My focus is on mixed vegetables, including traditional Oaxacan crops, and I bring many years of experience as a farmworker to this new chapter of independent farming.Currently, I lease 2.10 acres (including two big high tunnels), cultivating strawberries, cilantro, onions, green beans, chilacayotes, tomatoes, jalapeños, baby bok choy, and radishes. With a long-term lease, I aim to expand into raspberries, blueberries, asparagus, and other perennials to further diversify my production.
I am open to:
- Farmland for sale
- Farmland for lease with the option to purchase
- A long-term lease
Ideal Property:
- 3 to 15 acres
- In Central Skagit County: Sedro-Woolley, Mount Vernon, Burlington, Anacortes, Bow, Alger, La Conner (no further east than Sedro-Woolley)
- Reliable source of water, preferably a well
Infrastructure:
- storage or permission to bring my own shed for storage
- wash/pack facility or permission to install my own
- electricity would be ideal, but not a deal breaker
- driving access and easy access to roads
- permission to install high tunnels and fencing
- organic-ready land would be a strong preference, whether or not it is currently certified. Depending on the opportunity, I would consider property that requires some work to prepare for organic production
- Housing: on-site housing would be preferred if purchasing; for a rental, housing is desirable, but not required
