Description:
At Gordon Family Sheep, we believe our livestock help sustain a regenerative process benefitting both the land and the animal. Our Barbados Blackbelly sheep are 100% grass fed in open pasture with no permanent building/barn. We use a cycling system to help improve pasture and regenerate the grass, year-round. As operators of Gordon Family Sheep, we value quality control for all livestock. With implementing multicultural plant species by rotational grazing and resting land, determined by soil health, our animals can thrive in a sustainable environment. With experience working on family-owned and operated farms, our passion for wildlife carries into raising our children in an environment that is natural versus industrial. With animal health being a direct link to human health in most forms, we want to recapture food waste, consumption and improve our food system. Establishing a well-grounded environmental stewardship and animal welfare commitment that aligns with our own values and goals. We are a first-generation farming family with hopes to contribute to local grown food and goods for the community. With the help of our three littles, we are proud to have grown our flock through many lambing seasons in open-pasture style and sell wholesale breeding stock. Our children have motivated us to step away from modern advances, in-turn rewiring our focus to live more simply and ethically while restoring the history of farming.

We are looking to serve land which offers but is not limited to orchards, silvopastures, and water access. Our services include pasture management, improvements (including adding/repairing fencing, access points, invasive species/vegetation overgrowth, etc.) and improving quality and fertility of acreage. Our family enjoys being hands-on and while onsite housing is not required, we are interested in being on pasture as much as possible (if housing is not available).

Our experience includes operating Gordon Family Sheep through Farm to Farmer in Rochester, WA since 2022. Our farm lease (ending 2/1/25) included land bordered by wetlands, connecting with the Black River and 30+ acreage to fuel our livestock; where we land shared with others, seasonally. In addition, operating the Black River Blues Blueberry Farm seasonally, associated with The Chehalis Tribe on a 102+ acre farm in Rochester, WA.
