Description:Hi I'm Simon.
About me; I am coming to the end of my 4th year farming. Year 1 I wwoofed on a farm in the Skagit river valley. Year 2 I did a farmer training program called the Rogue Farm Corps and apprenticed on a farm called Rainshadow Organics. Year 3 I was the greenhouse manager and livestock assistant at Rainshadow Organics. Year 4 (this year) I continued working at Rainshadow Organics on an as needed basis but primarily worked at the sister business to Rainshadow (literally across the street) called 2T Sustainable. At 2T Sustainable I managed 350 acres of hay and 50 acres of field crops all under irrigation.
I am open to a variety of options. Firstly, the lease option; around 4 acres tillable with some infrastructure and equipment would be ideal. I would start small .5 to 1 acres with a 3 year plan of cover cropping and crop rotation to work toward a full 2 acres in production and 2 acres in cover crop rotating yearly. I would be happy to discuss my farm plan in more detail in person.
The other primary option I would be interested in is some kind of lease to own/manager to owner type situation. I would be most interested in an established diversified farm of at least 20 acres with housing. There are numerous ways this could work. A retiring farmer seeking someone to run their farm, a new landowner or investor with agricultural interests, etc.
I am also open to considering all other opportunities on a case by case basis.
