Description:Flames Voice of Hope is a youth nonprofit founded by Daniel Waruingi that aims to empower children and teach them to farm. Daniel currently farms 1/4 acre of land at the WSU center in Puyallup. Daniel is very connected to the Kenyan community and has a desire expand his farm to 3-10 acres to grow more food. The larger the acreage, the more potential for additional farmers and livestock enterprise.
Daniel, the youth at Flames Voice of Hope, and other affiliated farmers are growing corn, collards, cabbage, and sweet potato to feed their community and direct market to food bank in Bonney Lake and Enumclaw. Daniel currently uses silage tarps and drip irrigation to grow crops. Daniel has an interest in raising goats and chickens if there is access to pasture.
