Description:We are a group of families that are coming together because we are concerned about the impacts of climate change. We would like to learn how to build personal climate resiliency and share that knowledge as education with the general public. The climate change crisis is rapidly escalating, with devastating consequences for our planet and its inhabitants. Extreme weather events, loss of biodiversity, degrading ocean conditions, and rising sea levels are just a few examples of the challenges we face
Our goal is to form a model of a resilient and sustainable community, founded in our commitment to respond and adapt to the urgent challenges of the climate crisis and its economic impact. The model will be used to provide education to individuals, families, and entire communities about the necessary resources, essential skills, and innovative technologies that promote self-sufficiency and sustainable practices for humans, animals and plants. CSV Bellingham will have an emphasis on food, seed, and resource sharing networks.
Most of our group (about 5 families) do not have significant farming experience. However, we have some professional farmers in our larger climate resilience network, who are helping to advise us. One advisor is Wayne Jenkins from Synergy Gardens.
We have a commitment to learn more about farming and to seek out and hire consultants to advise us. We are committed to organic agriculture and sustainable practices.
