Soil nutrient balances are important to plant health, productivity, and your farm’s bottom line, especially nitrogen and phosphorus. At this workshop, WSU’s Andy Bary will share his work at the Puyallup Research and Extension Center to better understand nutrients availability to crops and their cycling in soils. Andy will help us understand the nutrient characteristics of manures, composts, other organic amendments and cover crops, and how to achieve nutrient balances and protect water quality by managing them well. Please bring your soil tests along, there will be time to apply what we learn to real-farm scenarios. Leave equipped with resources to understand your soil tests and create a balanced nitrogen and phosphorus budget for your cropping system.
