I grew up farming and have had education focused on sustainable farming practices. Currently, I farm full time around King County and am looking to finally start my own business focused on vegetable crop production. I believe in minimal waste and aim to facilitate/develop closed loop systems to decrease waste generation and increase resource availability. I adhere to vegan principles/philosophy and would implement practices accordingly. My business plan may evolve depending on land availability, personal capacity, supply & demand, and resource availability. Ideally, I'd like to find a 3-5 acre parcel to lease (although will take larger properties into consideration) to hone harvest/processing/cultivation skills and implement minimal waste systems on the land. Once I've established a stable consumer base & financial autonomy within my business, I would consider a lease-to-own arrangement. Further down the line, I'd like to focus on crops that can be generated into value-added products, specifically fiber & oil, to meet the need of sustainable vegan alternatives in the consumer market.
