Description: I'm 31 years old and have been farming, full-time, since graduating from Michigan State with an Ag. degree in 2013 (8 years of farming experience). I've worked as an apprentice, field crew, Extension farming instructor, owner-operator (on leased land) and production manager. Though my education was mostly focused on conventional farming practices, I've always worked on certified organic operations. I'm currently an orchard/vineyard manager and would like to find land for my own operation. The main focus of my farm/business plan is certified organic peach/plum, apple/pear, and table grapes. I'd like to attend a local farmers market or two, but I will be producing at a scale requiring significant wholesale distribution. I believe in organic orcharding that focuses on plant and soil health, minimized reliance on spraying, and incorporation of grazing systems, while still achieving high pack-out percentages of top-quality fruit.
