Description:From Colorado, lived in Bellingham for a bit in the past, have farmed in Saint Croix, USVI (internship) and Scarborough Maine (apprenticeship including management experience) all of 2020. Not currently farming but am looking to find land to lease, lease-to-own or most preferred, purchase to start an organic vegetable farm in Washington near the Puget Sound. I took the year off to hike the Appalachian Trail as this would be difficult to do after establishing a farm.
I am looking to do a direct sales model of CSA and Famers Market while also selling to wholesale cooperatives or other natural-food grocers. Eventually I plan to offer a full-diet CSA (85%+ of customers annual food) to a local community but that will take a few years to establish, it will include veggies, fruit, grain/flour, oils, beans, dairy products and eggs with a small amount of meat from cattle and chickens.
My farming practices are to promote soil and human health through building soil through maximizing photosynthesis, mitigating erosion with mulches and cover crops, promoting an abundance of biology through a diverse crop plan and plantings of beneficials, no chemical use, and companion plantings to name some methods all to improve the nutrition of food I provide to people.
I have completed the Cornell Small Farms Markets and Profits course in winter 2021.
I am mostly interested in Thurston, Whatcom, and Skagit counties but am certainly open to others near the Sound.
