Seeking Land Purchase, Land-Share, or Rent to Own: 2-5 acres in Pierce County / South of Seattle (would like to commute 1 hour max from acreage; if land-sharing/lease-to-own, we'd appreciate housing options.I grew up on a farm in Zambia, and I am ready to own my own, while likely on a smaller scale. I have been living in an apartment for 5 years and I am ready to move back out. A 2-5 acre parcel would provide the opportunity for me and my growing family to grow more of our own food with the potential to grow the food grown and distribute locally and add a few animals.
My father was a farmer, so what I know I learned from him. It has been many years since living on a farm, but I would start small and personal before hopefully expanding our vegetable and egg production to local markets and farmers markets. My background experience is in architecture, whereas my partner has experience working with local co-ops/food distribution.
Our current working plan consists of:
1-2 years would be to build up our processes and maintain / ensure the property is secure etc. 2-5 year goal would be to have a egg business off the ground and hopefully vegetable. We can see contributing to a local food outlet, to sell at a local markets or farmers markets under one organization.
