Seeking work-Lease: 1-10 Acres in Puget Sound corridor.

I am looking for a small plot of land that I can clear and work for free in exchange for labor. I want to build an organic livestock grazing operation using sheep and eventually cattle. My goal is to use smaller plots of land to build up the herd and flock over the next few years and eventually move the operation onto my own farm. I am starting the operation from the ground up and can NOT afford to lease land outright but I will trade accesses to land for labor and ability to rehabilitate your land. I am not going to be growing any food so there will be no tilling, no food storage, no packaging, no harvesting. My goal to make my footprint as temporary as possible, which will include fencing, water access, tool storage, beehives and catch pen. I will be planting sporadic fruit trees so that I can graft and propagate from them to build up my own fruit tree population that will be moved to my own farm in the future.

I was born and raised in Seattle. I work in Seattle. I have always loved working with animals and being an avid deer hunter, I can never get enough of the outdoor and I am working towards making my daily job an outdoors one.

I am looking for land owners to have overgrown land that they want cleared and restores to native grassland with the additional of fruit trees. I want permission to cut small trees and trim back canopies of larger trees to allow the sunlight to reach the ground floor. I will be wood-chipping the cuttings to patch bear spots on the ground and to help add carbon and retain water allowing the natural seed bank to reestablish itself.

I am will be raising the sheep for meat and I will only be using hair sheep, no sheering or wool. I am leaning toward St. Croix.

Most of my experience is in backyard gardening but I have worked on cherry orchards for several years and I am currently an amateur apiarist .

Short term plan: remaining of the summer/early fall I will be clearing as much as can, and planting fruit trees, My goal is 3-4 per week. once the end of September comes and the cold kicks in, I will focus on fencing the property (will only be using electric fence/netting). My goal is to have my first set of rams on the property by early-mid March 2022, depending the size of the property acquired, I may also place ewes as well. Once I can confirm access to land, I will place my deposit on the lambs.
