Currently in Sammamish, grew up in Bellingham/Whatcom County area;My wife and kids and I are interested in starting a small operation selling grass-raised sheep, yak and pigs, as well as some poultry. We would also like to try raising some other crops, but main focus would be grass/pasture raised livestock. Yak have a higher stocking rate than traditional cattle, and would like to raise and sell Yak for meat and fiber, as well as lamb and pigs. I was raised on a farm where we processed our own beef, raised pigs and chickens and also spent my summers working on raspberry farms. My wife and I have extensive animal husbandry/herd management experience that we'd like to continue to build upon in order to re-vitalize local food distribution & accessibility in our area. I would like to spend more time working out doors and do something sustainable, and allow my children to have the experiences I had as well.
I am also interested in sustainable aquaculture as a way to provide local protein.
