Description:5th generation farmer and US Army veteran looking for 1-40 acres of land for organic field grown vegetables and controlled environment agriculture (greenhouse production) of vegetables and fish. My long-term business goal is to add a rabbitry for meat, a fodder system to feed the rabbits, a gourmet mushroom grow, bee hives for honey, and a small number of livestock. Products will be sold through a farm stand and to local restaurants and will be produced organically, sustainably, and with a low carbon footprint goal.
Experiences include: raising Rex rabbits, building a recirculating aquaponics system to provide us with year round fresh kale and arugula and supplemental green for the rabbits, three summers of growing organic vegetables in our suburban backyard, and Veterans to Farmers’ hands-on commercial hydroponics and outdoor organic field growing courses.
I currently live in Fairplay, Colorado and am relocating to Washington with my Marine Corps veteran wife in the next few months. We both come from multi-generational farm families in Australia and Texas, respectively. We would like to be able to live on the land in our RV or a house, but this isn't necessary. I would be very interested in leasing a property with the goal of buying it when you are ready to sell. Our target counties are Skagit, Whatcom, and Snohomish. I am willing to work with existing infrastructure and supplies but can also provide the structures, tools, and equipment that I will need for my operation.
