***PENDING SITE VISIT. Email info@farmtofarmer.org for more info.***

We own a total of 35 acres with one small house, a large garage/shop, and a tractor barn. 13 acres of the land have been traditionally farmed for hay by neighboring farmers, some years just fallow. We always requested no spraying, if possible, but they had to for weed control last year. We would *prefer* to turn this land into a permaculture experimental farm or a food forest. There is a huge walnut grove which goes unharvested every year. We have 2 hazelnut trees, 4 very productive apple trees (and several more young fruit trees), lots of currant bushes, a concord grape vine and a champagne grape vine that are very productive, and many elderberry trees on the property. SO much to glean, and we have welcomed a few gleaners, but also so much that goes to waste or eaten by wildlife because we are unable to harvest it all. We also have a half-acre deer-fenced garden that probably needs reviving, as we haven't been able to keep up with it in 2 years due to health and work issues. There is also a deer-fenced area by the tractor barn that is approx 1/4 acre and needs 2 sections of fencing finished, previously used to keep a herd of goats by another sharefarmer. We are on the south-facing side of a hill, so we get full sun every day! The 13-acre field is most fertile in the lower half of the acreage, where it receives yearly runoff from snow melt. We have experimented unsuccessfully with hugelkultr. We are currently prepping to build a partially submerged high hoop house behind the house and garage, where we can access water and electric. The property has 3 underground rivers and originally had 3 wells. Currently, only the house well is working. It is a really GOOD one, so we don't want to jeopardize it by using it for agriculture. The garden well works up to a point, but needs to have the silt cleaned out of it (and we also need to hook the electrical back up). Third well is collapsed. There are OTHER AREAS that have much potential for supporting crops but have not been converted yet. The property has AMAZING potential, but we are both older, both still working (one full-time, one part-time), and hope we can find someone who wants to help in exchange for gleaning, etc.

NOTE: Although we don't have extra housing, we DO have an RV hookup, with access to a separate power pole that has run the garden well. There is also plenty of tenting space, etc. We have had both RVs and tenting guests stay comfortably here!
