Description:
I am originally from Washington and now looking to move back. I have been Market farming since 2012 for a non profit incubator farm I started. I grow year round, no till, very intensively and with focus on building organic matter and soil microbiology. Currently we have built to over 13 % organic matter and do the equivalent of over $150K per acre in sales but on less than one acre. I am fairly skilled at building infrastructure and teach hands on hoophouse building classes where we build a 20' x 40' in a day from scratch, bending our own pipe. I have trained with some of the most successful market gardeners in N America to learn my skills.I have been training new farmers online and have taught at organic farming conferences in 5 states including WA. I am on the board of a large organic certification and education organization and organize group orders and education for local market gardeners, In the past I have organized sustainable living festivals for up to 5000 people and a sustainable living workshop series of 70 classes per year as well as owned a sustainable living shop.
Currently I have been looking at integrating market gardening with an alley cropping system with diverse hedgerow type plantings like a syntropic system and would ideally like to farm in community with multiple farmers with different strengths on the same land in a whole ecosystem approach for long term ecological health.
I am looking for long term tenure on land with potentially a land trust ideally to ensure succession to keep the land in regenerative production long into the future. I am still eligible for low interest USDA loans and have fairly significant investment sums to put into the right property.
