Description:
Our names our Fox (29, they/them) and Kass (28, she/her). We are a couple who has been WWOOFing since early 2020 on small-scale farmsteads and some larger-scale farms. During this time, we fell in love with the farming lifestyle, developed a broad range of skills, and pushed our education to the limit while living on 6 different farms throughout the US. We have been educated in composting in diverse ecosystems, basic animal husbandry and advanced animal caretaking, food growing (from seed), solar power installation, general land management practices, as well as basic construction and rough carpentry skills. Our dream is to be able to be self-sufficient in growing our food and building our structures with off-grid, sustainable capabilities. We are passionate educators with a desire to connect with people of all ages. Another goal of ours is to have the place we land and farm be an interactive and living classroom for friends, family, and the general public to interact with. We are currently farming in the Willamette Valley in Central Western Oregon. We have been using biodynamic, regenerative practices to grow soil and food for a 15-person community. Additionally, we have been introduced to basic drying, preserving, and canning practices for long-term food storage. Lastly, we built our own mobile off-grid tiny home from scratch in 2022 and live full-time out of the 16-foot trailer. Through this, we learned an incredible amount of skills as we did not outsource any of the work through the process. We have experience with plumbing, electrical, and basic carpentry, and design. To be honest, given the way the market is trending, the dream of someday owning an educational farmstead is moving further and further away while the paid opportunities for farming experience continue to either be unpaid or very low wages. We are extremely interested in connecting with someone to build a bridge between generations and carry on the vision of some people's hard work and dedication. We are excited and ready to step into more of a management position on a farm and create a path into the future.
