- Current employee on flower farm (2023 season)
- 2 years experience cut flower production on small urban lot, but hoping to find land to scale up and start farm of our own
Our ideal plot would have:
- Dependable water source (well or dependable stream)
- Level growing space not in flood plain for future tunnels and perennial beds
- Nearby access to power if not already on site
- History of organic or regenerative growing practices
- Leasing: would prefer 1-2 acres. Housing option on site may be necessary depending on location. Established power and water would be necessary. Existing farm infrastructure (barn/shop, green house, tunnels) would be a plus.
- Purchase: would prefer 3-10 acres with home on site or suitable building site
Eventual plans:
- Homestead with kitchen garden, small orchard, small number of animals (laying chickens, pigs, sheep)
- Emphasis on regenerative practices (minimal tillage, no pesticides, biologic soil amendments, incorporating native flowers and hedges for pollinators and other wildlife)
- 1-2 acres mixed annual and perennial cut flower production
- Sales avenues to include CSA, farmers market, and wholesale
- Agritourism in form of guesthouse/cabin or camping sites
